Aerwhales help please

Hello, Ive noticed in the past few hours that whenever I look in the general direction of an Aerwhale my game lags quite a bit. I am playing on a Laptop that that is a few years old, so I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem? If not and it is just my computer: Is there a way of turning off spawning of the Aerwhales? I Do not know if they are important but I would like to be able to play minecraft and enjoy at least most of this amazing new world without lagging badly.

The only thing i can suggest is to adjust your settings, and play in full screen.
Might wanna pm the creators of the mod about turning them off.
